Les bonbons <strong>rouges<\/strong>, croustilles, c\u00e9r\u00e9ales, jujubes, sucettes glac\u00e9es et collations aux fruits sont particuli\u00e8rement attrayants.<\/p><h4 class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\"><strong>Mais d\u2019o\u00f9 vient r\u00e9ellement cette couleur ?<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">En tant que m\u00e8re de quatre enfants, chimiste et toxicologue, lire les listes d\u2019ingr\u00e9dients a toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 une partie importante de la fa\u00e7on dont j\u2019ai \u00e9lev\u00e9 ma famille. Lorsque mes enfants \u00e9taient jeunes, ils n\u2019appr\u00e9ciaient pas toujours mes choix et protestaient parfois.<\/p><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Aujourd\u2019hui, ils sont plus grands et ils m\u2019en remercient.<\/p><h4><strong>Qu\u2019est-ce que le colorant Rouge 40 ?<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Le <strong>FD&amp;C Rouge n\u00b0 40, aussi appel\u00e9 Allura Red AC<\/strong>, est un colorant alimentaire synth\u00e9tique utilis\u00e9 pour donner aux aliments diff\u00e9rentes teintes de rouge, de rose et d\u2019orange. Il est fabriqu\u00e9 par des proc\u00e9d\u00e9s chimiques \u00e0 partir de mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res d\u00e9riv\u00e9es du p\u00e9trole.<\/p><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Le Rouge n\u00b0 40 peut se retrouver dans les bonbons, jujubes, c\u00e9r\u00e9ales, <strong>certaines croustilles aromatis\u00e9es et collations sal\u00e9es<\/strong>, gla\u00e7ages, sucettes glac\u00e9es, desserts \u00e0 la g\u00e9latine, produits de boulangerie, boissons color\u00e9es et autres aliments transform\u00e9s.<\/p><h4><strong>Que dit la recherche ?<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Les pr\u00e9occupations concernant les colorants alimentaires synth\u00e9tiques vont <strong>au-del\u00e0 du TDAH ou de l\u2019hyperactivit\u00e9<\/strong>.<\/p><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Une importante \u00e9valuation scientifique publi\u00e9e en 2021 par l\u2019Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment de Californie, l\u2019OEHHA, a conclu que <strong>les colorants alimentaires synth\u00e9tiques peuvent avoir des effets neurocomportementaux chez certains enfants<\/strong>.<\/p><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Des \u00e9tudes chez l\u2019humain ont associ\u00e9 les colorants alimentaires synth\u00e9tiques \u00e0 des changements dans <strong>l\u2019activit\u00e9, l\u2019attention et le comportement<\/strong> chez certains enfants. Des \u00e9tudes chez l\u2019animal soul\u00e8vent \u00e9galement des pr\u00e9occupations concernant <strong>l\u2019apprentissage, la m\u00e9moire, la chimie du cerveau et d\u2019autres changements neurologiques<\/strong>.<\/p><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Voici quelques r\u00e9sultats importants :<\/p><ul><li>Des \u00e9tudes chez l\u2019animal ont observ\u00e9 des changements touchant <strong>l\u2019activit\u00e9, l\u2019apprentissage, la m\u00e9moire et la chimie du cerveau<\/strong> apr\u00e8s une exposition \u00e0 plusieurs colorants synth\u00e9tiques, notamment le <strong>Rouge 40, Rouge 3, Jaune 5, Jaune 6 et Bleu 1<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Les r\u00e9sultats chez l\u2019animal appuient g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement les observations faites dans les \u00e9tudes chez les enfants, selon lesquelles les colorants synth\u00e9tiques pourraient contribuer \u00e0 certains changements comportementaux.<\/li><li>Les \u00e9tudes chez l\u2019humain ont souvent test\u00e9 plusieurs colorants simultan\u00e9ment. Les chercheurs ne peuvent donc pas affirmer que <strong>le Rouge 40 \u00e0 lui seul<\/strong> est responsable des effets observ\u00e9s. Cependant, les donn\u00e9es animales sont plus nombreuses pour le Rouge 40, le Rouge 3 et le Jaune 5.<\/li><li><strong>Le Rouge 40 pr\u00e9sentait l\u2019exposition estim\u00e9e la plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e parmi les colorants \u00e9tudi\u00e9s<\/strong>, suivi du Jaune 6 et du Jaune 5. Par rapport \u00e0 leur poids corporel, l\u2019exposition des enfants \u00e9tait g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e que celle des adultes.<\/li><li>Chez les enfants, <strong>les boissons aux fruits et les boissons gazeuses constituaient les principales sources d\u2019exposition au Rouge 40<\/strong> identifi\u00e9es dans l\u2019analyse.<\/li><li>Le rapport soul\u00e8ve \u00e9galement des pr\u00e9occupations concernant certaines anciennes limites de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de la FDA, qui reposaient sur des \u00e9tudes animales <strong>qui n\u2019avaient pas \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7ues pour d\u00e9tecter les types d\u2019effets comportementaux et neurologiques<\/strong> \u00e9tudi\u00e9s aujourd\u2019hui.<\/li><li>L\u2019OEHHA a finalement conclu que les colorants alimentaires synth\u00e9tiques <strong>peuvent avoir des effets neurocomportementaux chez certains enfants<\/strong> et recommande de r\u00e9duire leur exposition pendant que la recherche se poursuit.<\/li><\/ul><h4><strong>Canada et \u00c9tats-Unis compar\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019Europe<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Il existe une diff\u00e9rence int\u00e9ressante dans la fa\u00e7on dont ces pr\u00e9occupations sont communiqu\u00e9es aux parents.<\/p><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Le Canada et les \u00c9tats-Unis autorisent le Rouge 40 sans exiger l\u2019avertissement sp\u00e9cifique concernant l\u2019activit\u00e9 et l\u2019attention des enfants qui est exig\u00e9 en Europe.<\/p><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Au Canada, l\u2019Allura Red, le nom canadien du Rouge 40, demeure un colorant alimentaire autoris\u00e9. Sant\u00e9 Canada exige que les colorants alimentaires soient indiqu\u00e9s dans la liste des ingr\u00e9dients et consid\u00e8re actuellement que les donn\u00e9es disponibles sont insuffisantes pour d\u00e9montrer que les colorants alimentaires synth\u00e9tiques causent des effets <strong>neurocomportementaux.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">L\u2019Europe adopte une approche plus prudente en mati\u00e8re d\u2019\u00e9tiquetage.\u00a0La r\u00e9glementation europ\u00e9enne exige que les aliments contenant 6 colorants synth\u00e9tiques sp\u00e9cifiques, dont <strong>Allura Red AC, E129, aussi appel\u00e9 Rouge 40<\/strong>, portent l\u2019avertissement :<\/p><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\"><strong>\u00ab Peut avoir des effets ind\u00e9sirables sur l\u2019activit\u00e9 et l\u2019attention chez les enfants. \u00bb<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Il est important de pr\u00e9ciser que ces colorants ne sont <strong>pas tous interdits en Europe<\/strong>. L\u2019Europe exige plut\u00f4t cet avertissement suppl\u00e9mentaire sur les aliments qui en contiennent, sous r\u00e9serve de certaines exceptions r\u00e9glementaires.<\/p><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Pour les parents, cette diff\u00e9rence m\u00e9rite d\u2019\u00eatre connue. C\u2019est une raison de plus de <strong>lire les listes d\u2019ingr\u00e9dients et de privil\u00e9gier les couleurs naturellement pr\u00e9sentes dans les aliments lorsque cela est possible<\/strong>.<\/p><h4><strong>Colorez naturellement leurs aliments avec la betterave<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Les enfants aiment les couleurs. Nous n\u2019avons pas besoin de les leur enlever. <strong>Nous pouvons simplement changer leur provenance tout en profitant de bienfaits suppl\u00e9mentaires.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">De nombreux fruits et l\u00e9gumes apportent de magnifiques couleurs naturelles \u00e0 nos assiettes, en plus de leurs nutriments et compos\u00e9s v\u00e9g\u00e9taux b\u00e9n\u00e9fiques.<\/p><p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">La betterave en est un excellent exemple.Sa magnifique couleur rouge et pourpre provient de pigments naturels appel\u00e9s <strong>b\u00e9tala\u00efnes<\/strong>. Colorez le houmous en rouge. Pr\u00e9parez des cr\u00eapes color\u00e9es.
